The Body Care Habits To Add To Your Everyday Routine
Why does it seem that almost everyone has a fully crafted skincare routine? For many years, the beauty world has focused on the importance of proper skincare, and with good reason. A good skincare routine helps keep your skin plump and fresh, and helps create a great base for your makeup looks. However, just as your face deserves the ultimate care, so does your body. The body, no matter what, deserves an equal or more amount of respect because of everything it goes through each day. While we all partake in bodycare everyday, it tends to only come in cleansing and moisturizing. Typically, when we jump in the shower, we lather up in our favorite body wash and smother it in a body lotion afterward. However, just as our skincare is full of multiple steps, there’s plenty more body care habits you can incorporate to keep your skin in the best shape possible. While you don’t need to include every single one of them, nor should you include them every single day, adding these to your routines will help elevate your glow and aid you in making you feel your most confident self.
Dry Brushing
Alana Kapetanellis/DupeAlthough dry brushing has gotten much flak for being another gimmick, there are real benefits behind dry brushing. Dry brushing involves using a natural, stiff-bristle brush over dry skin to exfoliate dead skin and improve circulation. Just as exfoliation is important for removing dead skin cells on the face, dry brushing helps remove that layer of skin to reveal healthier skin underneath. Dry brushing is usually done before a shower, to let the water rinse the dead skin cells. Start from the feet towards the top using long, gentle strokes upward. Although an exfoliating technique, you can dry brush every time before showering or a few times a week.
Sunscreen
Bridget Despard/DupeIt might seem like a no-brainer, but sunscreen is vital for any and all routines. While there are countless products made to secure your face, whether you have sensitive or oily skin, the same importance is required for your body. Just as facial sunscreen is a must every day, it’s also important to ensure you’re covering your body. Even if you’re wearing a long-sleeve or pants, make sure you’re adding sunscreen to any visible or possibly visible skin, like your hands or wrists. No need to opt for a fancy formula here; go for your favorite body sunscreen and add that into your everyday routine.
Exfoliation
Katie Mansfield/DupeAlthough we’ve already mentioned exfoliation under dry brushing, there’s another type of exfoliation that you can take advantage of. Besides brushing, body scrubs are another bonus in your routine that leaves smooth and glowy skin. Just as dry brushing does, a body scrub helps by removing dead skin cells, allowing for a healthier layer underneath. As well, body scrubs can help your body lotion penetrate into the skin deeper. Unlike the other exfoliating technique, it’s recommended to only use a body scrub once or twice a week, to avoid over-exfoliating the skin.
Treatments
Lucy Robson/DupeIt’s not just the face that comes with skin treatments. Body skin treatments can target various skin concerns, from tightening to discoloration. Serums and in-shower products can help target ingrown hairs and dreaded body acne, giving your body the equal amount of care as your face. Places like the neck tend to be ignored, even during the shower, making it an important place to add some extra treatment.
