The Jelly Shoes Trend Is Here For The Summer- This Is How To Wear It

It’s the ’90s trend none of us saw coming. Jelly shoes and sandals have unexpectedly hit the trends list, and I’m afraid they’re here for a long time. Like the fisherman sandals, jelly shoes have become the season’s newest ‘it’ shoe, so much so that jelly fisherman sandals are selling out FAST. And while there’s no telling what other ’90s era trend will join the list in 2025, nostalgia is having a moment in fashion. While these jelly shoes come with plenty more comfort than before, they’re still a tricky trend to style. While you can go complete ’90s with your look, there are plenty of ways to incorporate them to fit your style now. These are some of our favorites to sport jelly shoes for however long they’re here with us.

Don’t know where to shop for them? Old Navy currently has a pair under $20 that’s called to be the new blogger-favorite, while Nordstrom also has a pair of classic Melissa Shoes that give a more elevated jelly shoe look.

Mix the trends

This summer has been full of micro trends. Things like fisherman core and maximalism have taken over our feeds, and it seems like every week there’s a new “aesthetic.” While there’s no telling how long jelly shoes will be ‘hot,’ they are fun shoes to add to your preexisting trends. Working with maximalist pieces for the summer? Pop in clear jelly sandals for a head-to-toe trendsetting look that stands out. Feeling a little cottagecore? Add some jelly sandals for a little more whimsy to your look. Although these micro trends tend to last for a short time, there’s no reason why you can’t make full use of them.

Make them workwear chic

To some, the jelly shoes trend may seem childish and too nostalgic for everyday wear. However, there’s no rule that says you can’t make them into a new workwear shoe. Barring any rules against it, jelly shoes can be as sleek as your favorite ballet flat, simply with the help of some other pieces. Opt for a tonal pair of jelly flats with a similar shade in trousers for a look that’s summer-appropriate yet elevated. While they might not be your go-to for the office, they certainly bring a more mature look to the nostalgic shoe.

Don’t overcomplicate it

One of the worst fashion mistakes we can make is overcomplicating a trend. No trend has to be perfect, but it should add to your existing style. Looking for an easy way to wear your new jelly shoes? Opt for your favorite tee and jeans for an easy outfit that makes you feel comfortable and confident. The minute you begin to overthink a trend, is when it starts to lose its sparkle so go ahead and wear your favorite pieces!
